Yongjae Kim(b.1985) is Brooklyn based artist, originally from Seoul, South Korea. Kim works predominantly on representational painting that describes psychological landscape of isolation and alienation in urban environment. Kim completed his M.F.A. at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 2014and B.F.A. at Seoul National University in Seoul in 2011. He received Best Color Work Award at 2014 KSCS International Invitation Exhibition of Color Works in Korea. In 2015, he is granted the membership of Elizabeth Foundation of Arts in New York. His works have been shown at Attleboro Arts Museum, the Boiler in 2014, and Porter Contemporary in 2015. He attended Joshua Tree Highland Artists Residency Program in 2013.
Minjung Lee(b.1984) is a sculptor who stages a certain moment in a particular situation rather than sculpting a sole object in an attempt to heighten the sense of presence of self through the spatial experience. Her works have been shown in various venues including Attleboro Art Museum in Massachusetts(2014), Joshua Tree Art Gallery in Joshua Tree(2013), London Analogue Festival in London(2013), Barge House Oxo Tower in London(2012). She was awarded Julia Wood Prize(2012) for excellence in articulating spatial constructs at Slade School of Fine Art, where she received her MFA in Sculpture(2012). Lee earned BFA also in Sculpture at Seoul National University(2007) in Seoul. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Kim and Lee are a married couple who share their studios. The studio visit will be conducted in a intimate setting followed by a Q & A seessuion.
