2022 AHL Foundation Artist Fellowship Application Guidelines

Overview

The AHL Foundation is pleased to announce the open call for the 2022 AHL Artist Fellowship. This Artist Fellowship will be awarded to mid-career contemporary artists of Korean descent in support of their creative endeavors during key moments in their artistic and professional development. 

Four selected fellows will each receive a stipend at the AHL Foundation’s Annual Benefit Gala & Awards Ceremony and showcase their work as part of a group exhibition in NYC in November 2022. Over the course of the fellowship period, the selected artists will share their works, stories, and practice through the Artist Conversation program.

  • Application Period: January 2, 2022 –  March 31, 2022 (11:59pm EDT)
  • Notification of Result: May 1, 2022

About

Established in 2019, The AHL Foundation Artist Fellowship was made possible thanks to a generous contribution from the Dow Kim Family Foundation. The Dow Kim Family Foundation is a non-profit organization engaged in philanthropic activities in areas of education, social services, and arts & culture with a primary focus to help better and empower the lives of underserved and under-resourced Korean Americans.

 

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Must be a visual artist of Korean heritage based in the United States.
  • Selected winners of the Contemporary Visual Art Awards & Artist Fellowship from the past 3 years are not eligible for this year’s Fellowship.
  • Fellowship recipients must attend the Annual Benefit Gala & Awards Ceremony.
  • Fellows must participate in the Artist Conversation (Tentative Title) program as a presenter & interviewee.

  • $5,000 stipend
  • Group Exhibition in New York City
  • Opportunity to participate in our Artist Conversation Program

* Please note that travel and other costs for the award ceremony and exhibition are included as part of the stipend and will not be reimbursed.

  • Work Samples from the past 5 years (Up to 10 work sample images or 3 video links. If you wish to submit both, please upload up to 5 images and 2 video links.) *** Please Do Not upload video clips of exhibition views
  • Full curriculum vitae of education, exhibitions, professional experience, honors, awards, and publications
