About the Course:
This course prompts us to rethink about works of art ranging from prehistory to contemporary context from multiple lenses including topics on gaze and smile in paintings, bodies, texts, the psychology of color, nature, science, various symbolic objects, and creative constraints. Such lenses will provide an opportunity for learners to curate and understand art in a unique way beyond chronological examination. In addition, learners will expand their knowledge of history, geography, politics, religion, languages as they explore the story of artists as told through the art they created. The course is structured around essential questions that frame explorations of the nature of art, creative processes, and our responses to art.
