AHL Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting Korean artists, is pleased to announce the opening of Park Joon’s solo exhibition, America the Beautiful: the Photographic Journey of Park Joon, at the Bank of Hope Manhattan (16 West 32nd Street, New York, NY) on September 1st, 2020.
This exhibition features photographs by Park Joon of the natural environments of California, Arizona, and Washington, and New York’s urban landscape. His black-and-white photographs clearly record vast deserts, Mother Nature, and the solitary metropolis. At times, iconic locations from across the U.S. feel somewhat unfamiliar.
Park Joon defines himself as an “outsider,” and the act of releasing his various feelings of life as an immigrant through the photographic medium affords him another way of life. “Landscape Photography,” which can be considered an ordinary form of putting the world on record, is actually a revelation of his active will that he wants to present to the next generation.
This exhibition is part of AHL Foundation’s Art in the Workplace program in partnership with the Bank of Hope and AHL Foundation Fellow Jiyoung Lee. Through this program, AHL Foundation seeks to support the creative activities of local Korean artists and help provide the general public and business world greater access to contemporary art.
America the Beautiful is open through January 31st, 2021 at the Bank of Hope Manhattan during its regular operating hours (M-F: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM). For any questions or inquiries, contact AHL Foundation at info@ahlfoundation.org.
