The AHL Foundation is proud to present Kyunghee Min’s Solo Exhibition, Everywhere, Elsewhere 2 at the Bank of Hope Manhattan Branch (16 West 32nd Street, New York, NY 10001) until June 30, 2023.
Previously presented as a planned series of ‘Everywhere, Elsewhere’ held at the AHL Foundation Project space back in November 2022, this exhibition ‘Everywhere, Elsewhere 2’ is a continuation and solo exhibition of Seoul-based artist Kyung-hee Min. Min is an illustrator and best-selling essayist who has collaborated with various cultural and artistic institutions and companies. As the title of the exhibition implies, the Artist’s works will be newly placed in the space of a bank where everyday people do business beyond the white cube gallery space. In addition, her newest piece ‘KoreaTown (2023)’ was inspired by the heart of the exhibition, New York City’s very own KoreaTown.
About the Artist
Kyung Hee Min (b. 1993, Seoul) published her first best-selling essay book “One Night When Things That Don’t Matter Became Extraordinary” in 2017 and has been actively communicating with her followers over social media (@page_737) since then. In 2019, she published her second essay book, “I Want to Be Like Your Everything” (Wisdom House). She participated in SK Social Value Campaign Online Gallery Illustration Project (2019) and UN Refugee Agency Shelter Campaign Illustration Project (2018), and recently participated in various of group exhibition such as <The Preview Seongsu – Shinhan Card Art Fair>, The Factory Seoul (2022), <together>, Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, Seoul (2022), <Today I also write a diary>, SeMA Warehouse, Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul (2020), and a solo exhibition: Objet Hood Busan <I Want to Be Like Your Everything> (2022).

비영리 한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단(AHL Foundation, 대표 이숙녀)의 아트 인더 워크 플레이스(Art in the Workplace) 프로그램 ‘Everywhere, Elsewhere 2 (모든 곳, 다른 곳 2)’ 전시가 뱅크오브호프(Bank of Hope) 맨하탄 지점(16 West 32nd Street, New York, NY 10001)에서 열리고 있다.
본 전시 ‘Everywhere, Elsewhere 2’ 는 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 민경희 작가의 개인전으로 2022년 11월 알재단 프로젝트 스페이스에서 개최 한 ‘Everywhere, Elsewhere’ 전시의 연장선으로 기획 되었다. 작가 민경희는 일러스트레이터로이자 에세이 부문 베스트 셀러 작가로 알려져 있으며 다양한 문화 예술 기관 및 기업과 협업작업을 전개 해 왔다. 전시 제목 처럼 화이트 큐브의 갤러리 너머 이제는 일상의 사람들이 업무를 보는 은행이라는 공간에서 작가의 작품이 새롭게 배치 될 예정이다. 또한 전시 장소의 위치인 뉴욕 코리아 타운에서 영감을 받은 신작 ‘코리아 타운(2023)’도 선보인다.
한편, 민경희(b. 1993, 서울 출생 및 거주) 는 2017년 부터 첫 베스트 셀러 에세이집 『별일 아닌 것들로 별일이 됐던 어느 밤』 출간을 필두로, 솔직한 감성의 일상적인 이야기를 담은 그림으로 인스타그램(@page_737)을 통해 팬 층과 활발히 소통하고 있다. 2019년에는 두번째 에세이 집 <난 너의 모든 것을 닮고 싶은 사람> (위즈덤 하우스)을 출간했다. SK 사회적 가치 캠페인 온라인 갤러리 일러스트 (2019), UN난민기구 쉘터 캠페인 일러스트 (2018)에 참여한 바 있으며, 최근 참여한 전시로는 <더 프리뷰 성수 – 신한카드 아트페어>, 더팩토리 서울 (2022), <together:함께> 단체전 , 신세계 백화점 강남점, 서울 (2022) 및부산 오브제 후드 <난 너의 모든것을 닮고싶은 사람>개인전 (2022), <난 너의 모든것을 닮고싶은 사람>개인전,오브제 후드 , 부산 (2022), <오늘도 나는 일기를 쓴다> 단체전 참여, 서울시립미술관 SeMA창고, 서울 (2020) 등이 있다.
본 전시는 알재단의 아트 인 워크 플레이스 (Art in the Workplace) 프로그램의 일환으로, 누구나 일상의 상업 공간에서 한국 현대 미술 작품을 감상 할 수 있도록 알재단과 뱅크오브호프 (Bank of Hope)의 파트너십으로 기획 되었다. 전시는 2023년 6월 30일(금)까지 뱅크오브호프 맨하탄 지점 운영 시간 내(9:00 AM –4:00 PM) 관람 가능 하다. 전시 관련 및 작품 구매 등 문의사항은 info@ahlfoundation.org
