A Night Honoring Winners, Grantees, Fellows, Artists, Art Professionals, and Supporters in the Korean Community

AHL Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Korean contemporary art, will host its 2023 20th Annual Benefit Gala & Awards Ceremony on September 8, 2023 at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Chelsea. 9 individuals will take the stage to receive their awards, grants, and fellowships, including visual art award winners, exhibition grantees, and researchers associated with the Foundation’s Archive of Korean Artists in America (AKAA). In total, $50,000 will be awarded to the AHL Foundation’s 2023 honorees.

Guests can also look forward to a seated dinner,  an artwork silent Auction, and a special art performance by Yozmit (2021 Artist Fellowship Recipient). This event will be a platform for exchanges between various community members across generations, professions and backgrounds, and a meaningful place to reflect, celebrate and inspire the vision of Korean contemporary art and the AHL Foundation.

AHL Foundation was established by Sook Nyu Lee Kim and supporters in 2003 to support Korean contemporary artists and art professionals active in the United States and promote Korean contemporary art. Since then, the Foundation has expanded its efforts to include exhibitions, educational programs, workshops, and various other programs related to informing the art world and general public about Korean contemporary art. In 2022, AHL Foundation opened its first art gallery and an archive room at 2605 Frederick Douglass Boulevard in New York.

알재단 20주년 맞이 갈라 및 시상식 개최

한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단 (대표 이숙녀)이 오는 9월 8일(금) 오후 5시에 제 20회 알재단 시상식 및 연례 갈라 행사를 개최한다. 맨하탄 첼시에 있는 성 아포스톨루 처치( the Church of the Holy Apostles) 에서 열리는 이번 행사는 알재단의 20주년을 기념하는 자리이며, 금년 재단 공모전에서 당선된 미술 작가와, 기금 수상작가, 아카이브 연구원, 큐레이터 등에게 상장과 상금 총 5만 달러를 전달하는 시상식을 연다. 또한 2021년 알재단 아티스트 펠로우십 수상 작가로  국제적으로 활발하게 활동하고 있는 퍼포먼스 아티스트인 요즈밋(Yozmit) 초청 특별 공연과 베네핏 옥션 이벤트 등 다채로운 부대 행사가 펼쳐질 예정이다. 본 갈라는 후원자 및 참여자, 다양한 연령대의 작가, 큐레이터, 뮤지엄 관계자 및 일반인이 참여하며, 알재단의 향 후 비전과 미래상을 함께 공유하는 장이 될 것이다. 

한편, 알재단은 2003년 이숙녀 회장 및 미술 애호가들이 창립 하였으며, 미국 내 한인 예술가의 발전과 한국 현대 미술을 목적으로 작가와 큐레이터를 위한 후원 기금 뿐만 아니라 전시회, 교육 프로그램, 워크숍 등 다양한 프로그램으로 한국 현대 미술의 지지층을 넓혀가는 데 앞장서고 있다. 2022년에는 맨하탄 할렘에 갤러리 및 아카이브 룸을 개관한 바 있다.
