AHL Foundation Announces 2023 AHL Art Fair

Opening Reception: December 7 (Thu), 2023 6-8PM

AHL Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of the 2023 AHL Art Fair exhibited at the AHL Foundation Gallery (2605 Frederick Douglass Blvd., New York, NY 10030) on Thursday, December 7th. 35 artists selected through an open call will participate in the 2023 AHL Art Fair, which aims to connect emerging and mid-career artists with New York’s diverse communities and provide a platform for them to showcase their work. All works featured is priced below $500 to allow for more people to experience the joy of art collecting.

Jiyoung Lee, Director of Program of AHL Foundation and curator of the exhibition, said “This year again we have prepared an opportunity to introduce works in various mediums including paintings, sculptures, multimedia, drawings and prints by 35 amazing and talented artists. As it is being held at the end of the year, we hope it can serve as gifts for loved ones and allow people to experience the joy of collecting works they cherish.”

The opening reception is free and open to the public and will take place on Thursday, December 7th between 6-8pm in Harlem.

Since its establishment in 2003, AHL Foundation has been actively working to expand the community of Korean artists and patrons of Korean art in the U.S. through various programs including exhibitions, forums, public lectures as well as grants and fellowships for artists and researchers. In 2022, they opened a gallery, archive room and educational space in West Harlem, New York to serve as a community space for Korean artists.

비영리 한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단 (AHL Foundation, 대표 이숙녀)이 오는 12월 7일(목) 알재단 전시장(2605 Frederick Douglass Blvd., New York NY 10030)에서 2023 알-아트 페어 (AHL Art Fair)를 개최한다. 오픈 콜(Open Call)을 통해 선정 된 작가 35인이 참여하는 2023 알 아트 페어는 신인 및 중격 작가가 뉴욕의 다양한 컬렉터 층과 유대관계를 형성하고, 작품을 선보이기 위한 장으로 기획 되었다. 또한 보다 많은 사람이 작품 소장의 기쁨을 느낄 수 있도록 $500달러 이하의 작품을 선보인다.

본 전시를 기획 한 이지영 알재단 프로그램 디렉터는 “올 해도 35인의 회화, 조각, 멀티미디어, 드로잉, 프린트 등 다양한 매체의 작품을 소개하는 자리를 마련하게 되었다. 연말에 개최 하는 만큼 많은 분들이 사랑하는 이에게 선물할 수 있는 선물이자, 자신이 아끼는 작품을 소장하는 기쁨을 느낄 수 있는 자리가 되길 바란다.” 라고 개최 소감을 밝혔다.

오프닝 리셉션은 2023년 12월 7일 목요일 저녁 6-8시에 열린다. 누구나 참여할 수 있다.

한편 알재단은 2003년 설립 된 후 전시, 포럼, 대중 강연 등 다양한 프로그램과 작가와 연구자를 위한 그랜트, 펠로우십을 운영하며 활발히 미국 내 한인 작가와 한국 미술 향유층을 확대하고자 노력해왔다. 2022년, 뉴욕 웨스트 할렘에 갤러리 및 아카이브 룸과 교육 장소를 개방, 커뮤니티와 한인 작가를 위한 공간으로 운영하고 있다.
