AHL Foundation 2021 Online Art History Class Opens
Theme of ‘Religion & Art’
AHL Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting artists of Korean descent, will begin the Spring semester of its18-week art history class program on January 21st, 2021. The program runs all the way through to May 20th, 2021. Classes will be led by Dr. Sohee Koo of Columbia University and will touch upon several topics tailored to the general public. Like last semester, classes will be held online over Zoom. Anyone can participate after making a suggested donation.
The topic for this semester is “Religion & Art”. Over the 18-week course, Dr. Koo will delve into various works of art in the context of religion, ranging from architectural styles and art in the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation periods to modern and contemporary art.
Dr. Sohee Koo has taught art history, studio art, and art criticism classes at several universities over the past five years. She earned a Ph.D in Art & Art Education. She is actively presenting at conferences such as the National Art Education Association, the College Art Association, and the Foundation in Art and Theory in Education. 비영리 한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단 (AHL Foundation 대표 이숙녀)은 2021년1월 7일(목)부터 5월 20일(목)까지 18주간 봄학기 미술사 강연 프로그램을 연다.
컬럼비아대학의 구소희 박사가 연사로 나서는 본 강연 프로그램은 대중의 눈높이에 맞춘 재미있는 주제로 구성 되어있다.
2020년 가을 학기에 이어 온라인으로 진행되는 이번 미술사 강의는 일정 금액 이상 기부를 하면 누구나 자유롭게 참가할 수 있습니다. 봄 학기 주제는 ‘예술과 종교(Religion & Art)로 고대 미술을 통한 소통, 기독교 도상학, 중세 시대 건축 양식과 르네상스, 종교개혁기 미술 부터 현대 미술에이르기까지 종교라는 맥락에서 다양한 미술작품을 살펴본다.
한편, 강연을 맡은 구소희 박사는 컬럼비아대학에서 미술교육학으로 박사 학위를 취득한 후, 지난 5년간 여러 유수 대학에서 미술사, 스튜디오 아트, 미술 평론 수업 등을 가르쳐 왔다. 전국 미술 교육 협회(National Art Education Association), 대학 미술 협회(College Art Association), 미술과 이론 교육 재단(Foundation in Art and Theory in Education) 등 학회에서 활발하게 발표하고 있다. 접수는 2020년 12월 31일까지이며 접수는 info@ahlfoundation.org 로 문의 하면 된다. 강의는 한국어로 진행된다.
